SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1891 SINGLE SHOT PISTOL. SN 331. Cal. .32S&W, 10″ round ribbed bbl. In addition to the standard Model 1891 marks on top of the bbl, the serial number has been stamped on the left side of the frame. According to a letter from a former manager of Winchester, this gun came from the Winchester Research Dept. where it was used to test cartridges. Other alterations to the gun include a groove filed down the back strap, probably to make it fit a rest and a repaired front sight. CONDITION: 25% blue, mostly in the bbl rib groove with heavy marks at the back of the frame from mounting a machine. Grips have deep gouges. Firing pin is broken. The notches on the hammer need work. 4-47434 (300-500)
