INCREDIBLY RARE 20 GAUGE PARKER GRADE 2 LIFTER HAMMER SHOTGUN WITH CASE.

SN 15936. Cal. 20 ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 0 Frame. Any Parker 20 gauge hammer gun is very rare, with total production for all grades and types probably fewer than 150 guns. This grade “2” gun is one of three estimated made in this grade; the only one with 29″ bbls. (In fact there are no other 20 bore hammer guns listed in any grade with 29″ bbls.) This gun matches the information listed in the PARKER GUN IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger. The 29″ bbls are of laminated steel, and so marked on top rib, along with Parker name and Meriden address. Bbl flats are stamped with 1876 patent date. Small sized grade “2” lifter action with sculpted fences has milled out lightening cuts in water table; bottom of left cut is stamped with SN and “U”. Action is engraved in early grade “2” style with starbursts above strikers, and sprays of scroll as part of geometric borders. “PARKER BROS” is on each lockplate. Trigger plate has last patent date of 1875. American walnut round knob pistol grip stock has striking quilted figure, and measures 14-3/8″ over steel buttplate. Splinter forend with steel tip has Parker release stamped with patent date. Bore diameter: left -.614, right – .624. Bore restrictions: left – .009 (IC), right – .011 (lt mod). Wall thickness: left – .032, right – .026. Drop at heel: 3″, drop at comb: 2″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 6 lbs. 5 oz. LOP: 14-3/8″. Gun is housed in gold cordura case with stitched corners, lined in burgundy cloth. PROVENANCE: Daryl Middlebrook collection. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of a re-brown with good definition to pattern, engraving somewhat softened. Action and locks retain 20 – 30% new case hardening color which has been toned back, and looks almost original. Stocks retain nearly all of a glossy oil finish, checkering re-cut. Bores are excellent, shiny throughout. Action is tight. Bbls are slightly off face. Locks are excellent. Case is excellent. A chance to own one of the rarest small bore Parkers in existence. 53097-6 MGM (12,500-17,500) – Lot 1314
