UNIQUE 38″ BARREL 16 GAUGE PARKER TOP LEVER HAMMER SHOTGUN.

SN 46760. Cal. 16 ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 0 Frame. THE PARKER STORY does not list any 38″ barrel 16 bore hammer guns, however the factory records as outlined in PARKER IDENTIFICATION & SERIALIZATION ledger confirm the configuration of this unique gun. 38″ Twist bbls are marked with “PARKER BROS MAKERS MERIDEN CONN TWIST” on slightly raised concave rib with dolls head extension. All correct marks are on bbl flats and sides of lumps. Top lever action with check hook and lightening cuts in water table, is fitted with bar locks. Action and locks are engraved with line borders. “Parker Bros” is on each lockplate. 1875 Patent marking is on trigger plate. SN is on trigger guard tang. Plain American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8″ over rare Folsom “Parker Trap Gun” buttplate. Matching splinter forend has usual Parker latch. Bore diameter: left -.673, right – .674. Bore restrictions: left – .019 (mod), right – .022 (mod). Wall thickness: left – .022, right – .022. Drop at heel: 3-5/8″, drop at comb: 2″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 7 lbs. 6 oz. LOP: 14-5/8″. PROVENANCE: Daryl Middlebrook collection. CONDITION: Good, as restored. Bbls retain essentially all of a very well done re-brown with excellent definition to twist pattern. Action re-colored, retaining nearly all that color over some frosting and a few marks and dents. Engraving thinned. Stock refinished, checkering re-cut. Buttplate is quite smooth, letters almost illegible. There is evidence of numerous repairs in head of stock. Bores have been cleaned, considerably pitted, with numerous repaired dents. Action is tight, bbls are on face. Locks are good. A really cool long barreled Parker. 53097-3 MGM (5,500-8,500) – Lot 1315
