*SCARCE 3-1/2″ CHAMBERED TEN BORE ITHACA NID GRADE 2 E SHOTGUN IN EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL CONDITION, WITH LO’M CASE.

SN 500921. Cal. 10 ga. 3-1/2″ Chambers. With a total of about 1000 of these iconic guns ever made, those in grade “2” are quite scarce with an estimated production of 164. This high orig condition example has 32″ bbls with matted game rib. All correct marks and proofs are on bbl flats. Case hardened NID action specially made for this large heavy gauge with cut through bottom allowing extra purchase by flat on bbl hook, has automatic safety and dbl triggers. Action is engraved in typical grade “2” style with large simple acanthus flourishes within line borders surrounding game birds on each side under “Ithaca Gun Co”; with a duck on left and snipe on right. More acanthus extends to trigger guard, SN is on tang. Finely stump figured American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock with fancy pattern checkering, measures 14″ over Ithaca sunrise pad. Matching splinter ejector forend with inset ebony tip has combination “J” spring and Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.777, right – .776. Bore restrictions: left – .043 (full), right – .041 (full). Wall thickness: left – .070, right – .072. Drop at heel: 2-11/16″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 10 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 14″. Gun is accompanied by leg o’ mutton case which appears original. PROVENANCE: Daryl Middlebrook collection. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain 90 – 95% orig blue with a few small flecks of cleaned rust and numerous light marks. Action retains 90 – 95% orig case hardening color with some areas of flecking, silvered on fences and sharp edges. Trigger guard retains nearly all its orig blue, as does forend latch, which is thinned a bit. Stocks retain nearly all of their orig finish with light marks and a few dings associated with limited field use. Bores are excellent. Mechanically fine. Case is fine.
