SCARCE AND DESIRABLE SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1855 PISTOL CARBINE WITH MATCHING STOCK.

SN 16. Cal. .58. 12″ bbl. Standard markings. 1856 dated on lock and bbl tang. Clear cartouches on left side opposite lock. Orig swivel ramrod. Proper matching detachable shoulder stock with “US” stamped on top of buttplate. Both gun and stock are numbered “16”. No cartouche on stock. Rear sight appears to be a replacement. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine with metal surfaces exhibiting an even matching patina. Uniform extremely minor pitting on exposed steel parts. All markings are clear and sharp in metal. Wood appears to have had an additional coat of varnish applied, cartouches are still visible.
