SHARPS FACTORY ENGRAVED BREECH LOADING 4-SHOT PEPPERBOX PISTOL.SN 13480. Cal. 22 RF. 2-1/2″ bbl cluster. Blue and silver finish. 2-piece ivory grips. SN is struck on the bottom of the bbl cluster and butt of the grip frame. Bbl cluster is otherwise unmarked. Left side of frame is marked “C. SHARPS PATENT 1859” in a circle around hammer screw. Right side of frame is marked “C. SHARPS & CO PHILAD. PA.” in a circle around hammer screw. Frame is engraved in a scroll and floral pattern with checkerboard accents. Scallop decorated on apron behind hammer with engraving down backstrap. Butt has SN in a riband. Grip holding plate has scallop decoration. Frame has a dovetail steel repair at the locking point. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl cluster shows remnants of blue finish in protected areas with the balance being a mottled blue-gray patina. Bores are dark. Frame shows traces of silver plate in protected areas. Engraving and markings are sharp. Grips are fine, intact and show a deep mellow patina. Mechanics need attention. Pistol does not stay on full cock.
