FINE CASED LONDON COLT 1877 LIGHTNING REVOLVER.

SN 14556. Cal. 38. 4-1/2″ bbl. Nickel finish overall. Single & double operation. Two piece hard rubber Rampant Colt grips with etched bbl caliber designation. Two line Pall Mall London Colt address. English proofed on each chamber and bbl. Niter blue finished appointments including screws, hammer, trigger and cylinder pin. Made with ejector rod and bullseye ejector. Manufactured in 1879 as verified by SN. Classically English cased with provision for 14 cartridges and marked internally in lid with the English Pall Mall Colt label, ivory finial on one compartment.. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine overall with slight finish loss at muzzle and extreme leading edges of cylinder. Nickel finish is bright with no apparent polishing. Action is crisp and functioning. Bore is good with very minor frosting in grooves. Chambers are bright and excellent. Two-piece Rampant Colt hard rubber grips are very fine with no cracks or material loss. Case is very fine with brass appointments and fine satin lining. Linen bottom cover is slightly moth eaten with about 20% loss, balance intact. Case has suffered no warpage or cracking and is an exceptionally fine example. Cartridge cut-outs can be utilized for either .38 or .41 caliber cartridges.
