PHIL SHERIDAN LETTER TO GEORGE CUSTER WITH ENCLOSED PHOTOGRAPH.2-pg ALS from Sheridan, Chicago, May 26, 1862 “My dear Custer, I enclosed the “photo” at last. It is said by some to be very good. How are you and what news hear you? With kindest regards to Mrs Custer. I am yours truly, Sheridan”. Lot also includes cabinet card of Sheridan in his full regalia. Sheridan was Custer’s angel and was the first to see the great potential in him, giving him numerous advances and opportunities to make his mark in American history. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Letter is cracked at folds with old scotch tape repair which has stained through paper, but ink is dark and easily discerned.
