TWO EXCEPTIONAL CIVIL WAR AMES EDGED WEAPONS.

1) Model 1832 regulation short artillery sword “N.P. AMES / SPRINGFIELD” on one ricasso and “UNITED / STATES / 1833″ on other. 25-3/4″ overall with 19” double edged blade with 3 fullers, complete “ADK” inspected scabbard. 2) Ames Dahlgren Bowie-bayonet, 16-5/8″ overall, 12″ blade dated and inspected “U.S.N. / D.R. / 1863” with full maker’s mark. Matching brass mounted leather scabbard. These 2 knives are very fine examples, retaining most of their orig finish. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: 1) Blade retains some orig luster with staining and pinprick pitting. Several nicks in cutting edge. Markings are crisp and well discerned. Scabbard is sound and solid, retaining most of its orig black dyed surface. Scabbard mounts and hilt have mixed mustard patinas. 2) Blade retains most of orig luster with several light nicks in cutting edge. Brass mounts have matching, cleaned patina.
