HIGH GRADE STATUE GRIP MILITIA OFFICER’S SWORD OF CAPTAIN HENRY FALES, MAYHEW GUARDS, 10TH MASSACHUSETTS VOLUNTEER MILITIA.

31-1/2″ lustrous Clauber blade with gold highlighted 9″ patriotic panels mounted in silver-plated solid brass scabbard with gilt relief mounts. Hilt features a full standing silver-plated Indian maiden wearing tobacco leaf skirt. Pommel exhibits a full relief American eagle on patriotic shield. This is quite an ornate Civil War era surplus sword with “1873” presentation. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Blade retains virtually all its orig luster with only minor blemishes. Hilt and scabbard and mountings retain about half of their orig silver and gold plating.
