*VERY FINE RARE AND DESIRABLE BRITISH L42A1 ENFIELD 7.62 SNIPER RIFLE WITH SCOPE AND TRANSIT CHEST.

SN G30629. Cal. 7.62. 27-1/2″ bbl. Proper markings. The L42A1 is a conversion of the No.4Mk1 (T) WWII sniper rifle. The base rifle is an M47C 1944. Numbers were matched during conversion. Proper half-stock configuration. Left side of receiver marked “L42A1 D71” over the orig “T” marking. Matching numbers on scope body and top of stock where it meets butt socket. The scope is a 1946 dated No.32 MK III, with orig markings lined out and proper L1A1 markings applied. Orig mount number properly x’ed out, matching number electric penciled in British style to gun. Proper leather lens cover. Correct metal scope transit case. Gun and scope in proper British wood transit chest, dated April 1987. These guns saw service from 1970 to 1990. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine with minor handling marks. Wood is very fine with minor handling marks. All markings are clear. Bore is excellent with sharp rifling. Mechanics are crisp. Scope in matching condition to gun with nice clear optics.
