SN 142235. Cal. 12 ga. 28″ matted bbl, full blue finish, nicely figured checkered pistol grip stocks with Marlin hard rubber buttplate. Bbl is marked “SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL” bordered by diamonds over 2-line Marlin address and patent mark with arrow finials. Breech of bbl is marked “12GA”. SN is struck on forward bottom of receiver. Upper tang is marked “MARLIN MODEL No 24”. Buttplate shows a Marlin logo. Bbl and top of receiver are matted. Left side of receiver has an oval vignette of four mallard ducks in flight. Vignette is bordered with fine line scroll engraving. Receiver has a walking punch border. Right side of receiver has a circular scroll decoration bordered by fine line scroll. Left side of receiver has walking punch and punch dot border. Bolt is engraved with two pigeons in flight. SN has a circular splay accent with punch dot background. Upper tang shows fine line accent with line border. Stocks are checkered in a diamond pattern. Pistol grip is not capped. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains nearly all of a refreshed dull blue finish. Matting is sharp. Gauge mark is slightly washed out. Other markings are sharp. Bore is bright. Receiver retains 80% bright blue finish with high-point wear and a few handling marks. Engraving is sharp. Marks are sharp. Mechanics are crisp. Stocks are very good with sharp checkering.
