SCARCE AND EXTREMELY FINE EARLY ENGLISH CASED SMITH & WESSON 1ST MODEL AMERICAN SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER, SN 525.

SN 525. Cal. 44. Standard configuration with 8″ bbl with rib, half-moon German silver front blade sight. Blue and case hardened finish. 1-line bbl address with last patent date “AUG. 24 69”. Small British proofs found on left side of bbl housing and on each cyl chamber. Cased in a “J. H. CRANE, LONDON” green baize lined oak partitioned case. This is an extremely fine example retaining most of its orig finish in a fine English case. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Extremely fine overall. Bbl and frame retain 95% plus bright orig finish with small cosmetic blemishes. Cyl retains over 90% bright blue finish with areas of staining and pinprick pitting, drag line and one large 1″ scratch. Trigger guard and hammer are overall smooth silver/grey with strong areas of bright case colors. Mechanically crisp with bright shiny bore. Accompanying case has very good label as can be seen in photos. Baize lining has areas of soiling, fading and wear where gun contacts.
