VERY FINE SECOND MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER RIFLE WITH FACTORY DELUXE CHECKERED WALNUT STOCK.SN 50783. Cal. 44-40. 24-3/8″ full oct bbl. Full magazine with standard sights in place. Standard two line address. No cal. marking on top flat of bbl as there are no cal. markings on the carrier lifter. Case colored receiver, blued dust cover along with a case colored hammer and lever. Beautiful straight grip XX deluxe figured American walnut stocks with “H” style checkered pattern. Buttplate is case colored as well. Retains tang sight that may not be the correct type for this model. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Receiver retains 70% case color with balance turning mottled patina. Nose cap, hammer, lever and buttplate are in similar condition. barrel and mag tube retain 80% blue with some natural toning coming through. Stock retains the majority of what looks to be its orig finish with a few surface scratches and impression that really doesn’t take away from its overall condition. Buttplate fits excellent as the stock fits the receiver as well. Forearm is 90% finish with very few scratches or impressions. Forearm fit to the receiver is excellent with a slight gap in between the nose cap and the forearm. Screw heads retain unturned look with the exception of the side plate screw which is burred. Mechanics are crisp, bore is bright and shiny. A lovely Second Model 1873 Winchester rifle for the connoisseur. 53091-43 MS (15,000-20,000) – Lot 2033
