EXCELLENT WINCHESTER 1873 DELUXE RIFLE.

SN 85009. Cal. 44-40. 24-3/8 full oct bbl. Full magazine with standard front and rear bbl sights. Late second model rifle with a screw down rail for the dust cover. Blued receiver, set trigger, case colored hammer & lever along with a case colored buttplate. Deluxe 2-3X wood with “H” style checkering with an ebony insert on the pistol grip. Assembly number “4204” appears on frame stock and buttplate. Assembly number “39” appears on inside of right lock plate with evidence of prior case hardening colors. It appears that this deluxe rifle may have been back to the factory for refinishing, although there is no reference to R&R in the records.Accompanied by a Cody Firearms records Office search document which lists the rifle with 1/2 Octagon Bbl, Checkered Pistol Grip Stock, Set Trigger, and Casehardened. Shipped May 12, 1882. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Fine. Oct bbl retains a good strong 98% bbl factory quality blue along with 97% magazine blue. Receiver on the left side is a 95% blue and 92-95% on the right. Dust cover retains 80% blue. Loading gate is 90% bright nitre blue. Finish on stock on left side with a 2 or more patches of finish that have lifted very small with a few light impressions as well. Right side of stock retains a few impressions but retains most of its finish. Wood to metal fit is excellent with no chips or splinters missing. Forearm would rate a good 95% finish with also no splinters or chips of wood missing. All screw heads look to be unturned except for side plate screw. Mechanics are crisp, cycles correctly.
