COLLECTOR’S LOT OF GOVERNMENT 45-70 AMMUNITION FROM 1874-1882.15 20-rnd boxes including Frankford Arsenal loaded ammunition dates 1874, 1875, 1876, 1881, 1882 and 1888. 3 boxes of Winchester loaded carbine ball cartridges estimated circa 1880s. 2 boxes of carbine ball cartridges loaded by the Union Metallic Cartridge Co., and 5 other U.S. military pattern boxes of unknown date. This ammunition obviously loaded for the Allen conversion rifle, aka the Trapdoor w/both variations of the standard rifle load and the lighter carbine load. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: All boxes are sealed in shrink-wrap cellophane to prevent damage or soiling. Boxes very slightly from pristine to excellent. These early boxes are typically found flaking and deteriorating.
