OREGON ROPING SADDLE MADE BY VICTOR MARDEN, THE DALLES, OREGON.Saddle is a russet brown color with no silver ornamentation. Seat has a light colored pad with stitched decoration. Saddle is tooled overall in a 4-pointed star pattern. Skirt pads are embossed with an image of a trotting horse. Saddle is decorated with multiple leather conchos with latigo straps. Roping horn is bound in leather. Skirt is round. Fenders are also tooled overall as are the stirrup straps. Stirrups are wood with a brass protective strap around them. Makers mark appears on forward part of skirt on each side and at rear of the seat. Catalog number “2965” is stamped at rear of seat above the initials “DSMc”. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very good for a working saddle. Saddle is intact. Seat back is detached at inside bottom. Sheepskin lining is worn but intact. A nice example of an Oregon working saddle in above average condition. 53091-242 TEP (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2136
