FANTASTIC SECOND YEAR PRODUCTION WINCHESTER 1895 DELUXE FLAT SIDE RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER.

SN 2358. Cal. 30-40. 28″ full rnd bbl with two line address and caliber marking on top line. Ivory beaded front sight with blank in rear bbl dovetail. Blued flat-sided receiver supporting “Climbin’ Lyman” Model 21 sight. Pistol grip deluxe H-style checkered, highly figured American walnut stock. Winchester Repeating Arms Company logo on grip cap. Rifle equipped with crescent buttplate. Supported with sling swivel on toe line of stock and barrel band front sling eye. Accompanied by a 2002 Winchester Factory Letter which calls for Fancy pistol grip, not checkered. This appears to be a misinterpretation of the records or oversight in record keeping. Ship date of Dec 4, 1896. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Rnd bbl retains 98% blue with no mars or scratches. Magazine section is strong 90% blue, along with the lever. Breech block is a full 98-99% blue with the extractor showing the majority of its nitre blue. Right side of receiver is beautiful 99% blue with no marks or scratches. Forearm rates 90-95% orig finish with the stock rating a little better at 97-98% orig finish. Some raised grain throughout stock that would indicate very little handling. Hammer retains 95% of its case color. Lever is blued and retains 70% blue. Buttplate is case colored and has ample amount of case colors remaining, mostly subdued. Upper tang retains 90-95% strong blue with bottom tang retaining 98% blue. All screw heads appear to be orig case colored and untouched. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore with strong rifling. A fantastic antique model 1895 with deluxe pistol grip stock in superlative original condition.
