*EXTRAORDINARY FULL SILVER PLATED AND ULRICH ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SMOOTHBORE RIFLE, LIKELY A WILD WEST TRICK SHOOTER’S RIFLE.SN 297392. Cal. 32 WCF Smooth Bore. 24-3/8″ oct. bbl with cal. marking on left flat. Full silver plated barrel. Full length mag tube is full silver plated as is the guide ring. Receiver is full silver plated, as is the breech block, lever and trigger. Receiver with typical Ulrich factory #10 engraving pattern with an elk in a standing position on the left side with foliate scrollwork on the right side. No engraving on lever or hammer. Fabulous fancy XX walnut stocks with hard rubber shotgun buttplate, “20939” assembly marked on lower tang. Also on upper channel of stock with same number. “H” style checkering on stock as well as forearm. Pistol grip cap with Winchester logo. Rifle not proof marked on bbl or receiver. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Records Office research sheet which confirms all of the special order features with a ship date of April 29th 1905 and a order for Repair and Return on Nov 1, 1910. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95%+ silver which has turned dark. 95% on mag tube that has speckled in a small area. Forearms cap also silver plated and retains 95% of the silver. Receiver left side retains 96-97% silver which has turned dark. Right side retains 98% silver remaining. Breech bolt has some speckling that has raised the silver from the breech bolt with no more than 40% silver remaining. Hammer silver plated with 60% remaining. Lever 70-80% silver remaining. Upper tang 60% remaining with the balance turning a patina. Lower tang is silver with 96-98% remaining. Stock with light impressions with no gouges or wood missing around upper or lower tang. Right side of stock has some minor surface scratches with no missing wood. Small visible crack on right side of stock next to receiver and lower tang. No loss of wood. Bright shiny bore without rifling. Hammer will not stay cocked. A really lovely factory engraved 1892 that will be enhanced by careful research.
