*SPECTACULAR WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 “BIG FIFTY” DELUXE TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN 50-100-450 CAL.

SN 136058. Cal. .50-100-450. 26″ rnd bbl with half mag in takedown configuration. Marked “NICKEL STEEL” on left side of bbl under rear bbl sight and comes equipped with sling eyes on stock and forearm cap. Ivory bead Lyman semi Jack front sight and flat top sporting rear sight. Blued receiver with blued breech bolt. Case colored hammer and lever with a blued trigger. Fancy pistol grip stock with H-style checkering with pistol grip cap and hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Stock has an “830” over stamp with XX wood and “RF” on lower tang. Has a lovely piano finish on stock and forearm. Cody Firearms Records Office research sheet indicates that all options are correct and ship date Oct 7, 1906. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Excellent. Rnd bbl is 98% blue. Forearm cap is 98% with two bright marks underneath the forend cap screw indicating it went into the metal. Takedown collar retains 98% blue. Forearm on left side has numerous small light compressions, right side has less. Checkering is excellent. Finish remaining as 95-96%. Receiver on left and right side with 98%+ blue. All screw heads retain the majority of their case colors. Stock is with light compressions with a few light scratches at rear of buttstock. Lovely high gloss factory piano finish would rate 97-98%. There are no splinters or pieces of wood missing from the upper or lower tang. Proof marks on top of receiver and top of rnd bbl located in front of .50 cal marking. . 95-96% nitre blue on loading gate with balance turning a light patina. Bore is bright and shiny. Excellent action. Deluxe “Big Fifty” 1886’S are one of the rarest and most sought after rifles of the entire 1886 production. The present example is superb and would be almost impossible to upgrade.
