FABULOUS WINCHESTER 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH CODY FIREARMS WHITE SHEET.SN 48154. Cal 40-65 WCF. 22″ rnd bbl with 2-magazine bbl bands. Standard front sight and standard bbl carbine rear sight. Bbl address reads “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.”. Caliber marking reads “WCF” with “40-65” underneath. Beautiful straight grain American walnut stock and forearm. Saddle ring carbine has staple and ring attached. Model ’86’s in this caliber were used as a staple for meat on the table and are seldom seen in this condition. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchester in the world. CONDITION: Extremely fine overall condition. Bbl retains 99% blue. Magazine retains 98% blue, just slightly toning to dark plum. Front and rear bbl bands retain 95% orig blue. Receiver on left side with 98% vivid case colors, with right side sporting 97% vivid case colors. Loading gate has dark nitre blue with 99% blue remaining. Bottom of receiver has 90% case colors that have faded somewhat but still very evident as this is where one would carry the gun. Case colored hammer retains 97-98% case colors with faint drag line. Case colored lever is 75-80%, slightly faded to silver on bottom portion of lever. Bottom tang retains 90-95% case color with the balance turned silver. Breech bolt retains 99% of its bright blue. All screw heads appear to be unturned with most of finish remaining. Stock with few impressions on left side and equal amount of impressions on right side. Buttplate with 90% strong case colors with only wear on heel. Forearm with light scratches. impressions and a few dings but no wood missing on forearm or stock. A high condition ’86 carbine that would please the most discerning of collectors. Gun cycles correctly. Mechanics are fine.
