*EXCELLENT 1886 WINCHESTER MODEL SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH BLUED RECEIVER.

SN 132095. Cal. .40-82 WCF. 22″ rnd bbl with two bbl bands, cal marking in front of receiver “40-82” with “WCF” underneath. “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” Ivory beaded front sight with standard carbine rear bbl sight. Blue bbl finish along with blue mag tube. Saddle ring carbine ring and stud are in place. Receiver is blued, case colored hammer with blue trigger. Standard grade American walnut straight grip with carbine buttplate. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Records Office research sheet confirming configuration and ship date May 18, 1905. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Rnd bbl retains a solid 96% blue as does mag. There are light dings in bbl from moving the rear bbl sight back into the dovetail of bbl. Blued receiver on both sides retains 98% blue. Top of receiver has one small area of patina next to the bbl. Case colored hammer retains 90-95% dark, but quite evident. Lever retains 70% case colors on flats with bottom fading to patterns of case color. Stock is straight grain American walnut with a small notch cut out of the comb of stock. Also a deep impression on top flat of comb of stock. Both sides of stock have light impressions. Wood to metal fit is excellent to very fine with no splinters of wood missing and no cracks evident on either top or bottom tang. Case color on buttplate is dark but patterns can be made out. Screw heads look to be unturned. Bore is good, needs cleaning, otherwise rifling is bright and shiny. Mechanics are fine. 1886 SRCs are the most attractive of the plain 1886’S and always appeal to Winchester collectors. Marvelous high condition carbine that saw very little use.
