*RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 65 RIFLE WITH BOLT MOUNTED PEEP SIGHT.SN 1004895. Cal. 218 BEE. 24″ rnd bbl, half magazine, full blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with plain pistol grip and checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Bbl shows Winchester Model and Cal. designation at the left breech. Right side shows Winchester address. Front sight is hooded and mounted on a ramp. Rear sight mortise is plugged with no evidence of a rear sight having been mounted. “WP” proofs are struck at the bbl breech and on receiver ring. SN is stamped on forward bottom part of receiver. Upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK / MADE IN U.S.A.”. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95% orig blue finish that is drifting to a plum patina toward the muzzle with some slight muzzle wear. Front sight is very good. Markings are sharp. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver also retains 95% orig blue with only minuscule handling marks and little carry wear. Hammer and lever retain considerable blue finish that has flaked partially from the lever. Mechanics are crisp. Stocks are fine, retaining most of the varnish finish with only minuscule handling marks overall. Buttplate retains considerable blue with wear at the heel and toe.
