*RARE AND DESIRABLE WINCHESTER MODEL 61 SHOT-ONLY WITH UNCOMMON WINCHESTER COUNTER-BORED BBL.SN 247730. Cal. .22L RIFLE. Shot-only. 24″ rnd bbl with bead front sight and no provision for rear sight. Grooved receiver with blue finish on all metal components with exception of polished bolt. 2pc walnut stocks with 17-groove forearm and checkered steel buttplate. This desirable variation is known as the Type II smooth bore with a muzzle bore diameter of .265 and is counter-bored for approx 7″ from muzzle. Mfg in 1959. CONDITION: Prime overall condition with virtually no indication of actual use. Slight operational wear is evident on mag tube and bbl from only a modest amount of operation. The grooved receiver shows no indication of ever having a scope installed and the late 1950s Winchester polish is near perfect overall. The 2pc walnut stocks are equally fine making this a truly remarkable example and would exceedingly difficult to improve upon and would be a great addition to any collection. 53080-18 TDW (2,000-2,500) C&R – Lot 3253
