*WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 OCTAGON BARREL RIFLE WITH BEACH’S COMBINATION FRONT SIGHT AND LYMAN TANG SIGHT.

SN 214863. Cal. 30 WCF. 26″ oct bbl, full magazine. Full blue finish. Straight grained American stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight mortise that has been filled with a plug. There is no evidence of a rear sight having been attached. Cal. mark is at breech of bbl. Beach’s combination front sight has remnants of an ivory bead. Bbl is also marked “NICKEL STEEL BARREL” over “ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”. SN is stamped on forward bottom of receiver. Tang sight was not removed. Tang sight is marked “LYMAN” over “MIDDLEFIELD” over “CONN. U.S.A.”. Receiver sight has a large aperture disc. PROVENANCE: The esteemed collection of Rafael Cruz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine both retain 90% of orig bright blue finish. Markings are sharp. Front sight is very good. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver retains 80-85% bright blue finish, turning somewhat plum/brown at the carry point. Screws are not molested. Loading gate shows considerable fire blue finish. Hammer and lever both retain a generous amount of orig case color. Lyman sight is fine with most of the blue finish. Mechanics are crisp. Stocks are fine, full sized and retain most of the varnish finish with only some minuscule handling marks overall. This is a very fine example of a Winchester Model 1894 rifle made in 1901 in far above average condition.
