SN 601. (stamped on front of action, visible with forend removed, as well as on left side of bbl) Cal. 243 WINCHESTER. 23-1/2″ Tapered octagon bbl is fitted with Recknagel scope bases and iron sights in integral matted rib. Coin finished Heeren single shot dropping block action with its unusual combination set trigger/ cocking lever, is deep relief carved with full coverage large scroll surrounding full relief vignettes of game; auerhahn displays behind two hens on right side of action, while a roebuck pursues a doe on right. Makers mark “WF”, is on front of action and bottom of bbl. Intricately stump figured and somewhat marbled European walnut extreme rosewood capped pistol grip buttstock with hogback comb and Tyrolean right hand cheekpiece measures 14-1/4″ over open sided Pachmayr pad. Fish scale checkering is at grip, and forend which is rosewood capped and extends to muzzle. Removable rear portion has shadow line schnabel. Rifle is fitted with Kahles 6X scope with three post and crosshair reticle in Recknagel QD rings. Drop at heel: approx 3-1/4″, drop at comb: approx 1-1/2″. Cast: neutral. Weight without scope: 6 lbs. 7 oz. LOP:14-1/4″. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of very little field use, with only a few minor handling and assembly marks in all finishes.
