TWO GOOD 18TH CENTURY SAXON SPORTING CROSSBOWS WITH ORIGINAL GOAT’S FOOT LEVER DATED 1703(?).1) Retaining its original bow string decorative pompoms. Scrimshaw staghorn inlay. Signed by the engraver “L”. 2) Particularly robust and powerful example with orig string and decorative pompoms. Retains its orig rear sight. Scrimshaw staghorn inlay, very crisp. SIZE: 1) 25″ l. Bow is 20″. 2) 27-1/2″ l. Bow is 24″. CONDITION: 1) Bow is rusted and patinated. A few inlays have been replaced. Basically sound throughout.
