ATTRACTIVE GERMAN WHEEL LOCK HUNTING RIFLE WITH SCRIMSHAW STAG HORN RONDEL ENGRAVED “MK 1666” TANG ENGRAVED NUMBER ONE.

NSN. This attractive dated wheel lock sporting gun has finely etched panel at breech. The lock etched with a dragon on the plate and hammer en suite. The fruit wood full stock is finely inlaid with monster heads on cheek piece, brass studs and further decorated at butt. Heavy boldly swamped oct bbl. Heavily rifled with deeply rifled bore. Appears untouched throughout. CONDITION: Ramrod missing. Ramrod pipe missing. Inlay is missing at butt and cheekpiece. Patch box has inlay missing and inlays on right stock above patch box are replacements. Set trigger works well. Bbl and lock are stained but not badly rusted. An old spanner is inside the patch box. This is a very nice rifle in need of some good restoration at which point it would grace the gun cabinet of any aficionado of European 17th century weapons. 53048-1 (4,000-6,000) – Lot 3121
