*SCARCE AND DESIRABLE WWI BRITISH MILITARY CONTRACT COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL .455 PISTOL.SN W102317. Cal. .455 Eley. 5″ bbl. Standard Colt Government Model markings. British military inspectors proofs and broad arrow mark on left side of gun. British proofs on either side of bbl lug. Proper W prefix to SN. While this gun falls into the British Air Service/Royal Air Force contract SN range, this gun is not RAF marked. Checkered wood grips. Proper dual tone, lanyard loop, broad arrow marked, .455 mag. Lanyard loop is present, but not attached to mag. Bbl bushing may be a replacement. CONDITION: Good with a fair amount of finish. Some light rust, minor pitting, and slight dings. All markings are clear and sharp. Grips are good showing wear and age. Bore is fine with sharp, well defined rifling; some extremely minor rust towards muzzle that should easily clean out.
