ROBUST 8 BORE PERCUSSION SHOTGUN BY WILLIAM GREENER.

SN 4881. Cal. 8 bore. .845 Bore diameter. 29″ laminated steel bbls are marked with makers name and address, and “Indestructible by Gunpowder” on slightly raised broad concave rib. A heavy rosewood and brass ramrod is held by two plain pipes. Patent breeches have engraved platinum “blow outs”. Locks with rounded bodies are fitted with large ogee filed serpentine hammers, and are engraved with well cut scroll surrounding vignettes of a dog on left, and duck on right lockplate tail. Dense fiddle figured stock with widely spaced borderless checkering measures 14-1/8″ over steel buttplate. Bbls attach with two sliding side bolts through shaped steel escutcheons. Wall thickness: left – .040, right – .038. Drop at heel: 1-5/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Cast: 5/8 off. Weight: 9 lbs. 11 oz. LOP: 14-1/8″. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts retain traces of orig finish, under considerable browning and staining. Stock has multiple nicks and knocks in what appears to be orig finish. Bores are good with scattered pits.
