*VERY FINE 20 GAUGE FLLI RIZZINI R2 BOXLOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME SHOTGUN WITH BULINO GAME SCENES BY PATELLI WITH CASE.

SN 1870. Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Beautifully struck 26″ chopper lump bbls are engraved “Flli RIZZINI MAGNO V.T.” on slightly swamped game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with 1984 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Coin finished boxlock action has ogee filed into back and is fitted with unique removable floorplate to aid in cleaning. Action also features non-automatic safety and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with very well cut large acanthus scroll flourishes surrounding a field of small scroll with rose bouquets at centers. This interesting embellishment surrounds nicely detailed Bulino renderings of feathered game; chukar partridge on bottom of action, flushing pheasant on left side, and a pair of flying grouse on right. Each of these scenes is signed by noted engraver “Patelli” whose signature also appears after “INC” on trigger plate, meaning he was also responsible for the well done scroll, which extends to small bow trigger guard which has SN on tang. Well marbled and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over checkered wood butt. Borderless point pattern checkering is on semi-diamond hand. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: top -.621, bottom – .620. Bore restrictions: top – .020 (mod), bottom – .008 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Cast: approx 1/8 off. Weight: 5 lbs. 15 oz. LOP: 14-3/4″. Tan leather case by Nizzoli is lined in burgundy cloth, has Rizzini label in lid, and contains an aluminum cleaning rod. PROVENANCE: Certificate. CONDITION: Excellent, very close to new, with very faint firing halos on breechface and only a few light handling marks in wood of butt. Checkering still light in color. Mechanically excellent. Case leather is excellent, with a few marks and rubs. Interior is excellent. These exceptional boxlock guns have not been made since 1995. 52917-1 MGM (7,000-10,000) – Lot 1258
