IMPRESSIVE WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 RIFLE WITH LOVELY UNTOUCHED ‘MUSTARD’ COLORED FRAME.

SN 43073B. Cal. 44 Henry. 24-3/8″ oct bbl. Full magazine with front sight with German insert. Rear sight is late Henry sight marked for 900 yds. Equipped with sling swivels mounted on belly of stock and on bottom of forearm cap. Stock is straight grain American walnut. Matching SN’s on buttplate and stock. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner collection. CONDITION: Bbl retains 20-30% blue, mostly in protected areas. Balance of bbl turning dark patina. Standard front bbl sight has turned to dark patina. Rear bbl sight is mostly dark patina and latter portion is slightly bent. Brass retains beautiful mustard color. All screw heads in very good condition. Hammer has some case color on right side with the left turning to dark patina. Lever is mostly all patina. Trigger is mostly all patina. Magazine tube is 20-25% blue with the balance turning patina. Receiver has dark mustard colored look which indicates that it may not ever have been polished or cleaned. This applies to right side as well. Stock on left side has numerous dings and scratches with one impression running about 6″ forward of buttplate. Right side of stock has a few gouges, one that is deep next to lower tang. Some surface scratches. Bottom of stock next to buttplate has some slivers of wood missing, deep dings and surface impressions. Wood to metal fit on both sides is excellent with no chips or pieces of wood missing. Loading gate has turned pewter with no nitre blue showing. Left side of forearm with numerous dings and scratches with 1-4″ chip of wood missing near cap. Right side of forearm also with numerous dings. Bright shiny bore with light pitting.
