*FINE 1936 VINTAGE GRIFFIN & HOWE 1903 SPORTING CARBINE IN .30-06 CALIBER.

SN 1488. Cal. 30-06 20″ Medium weight sporter bbl w/typical G&H sleeved-on front ramp with silver bead front sight with knurled, machined sight protector. Top of bbl is engraved “No. 1488 GRIFFIN & HOWE, INC. NEW YORK”. Caliber is at rear. Standard Springfield ’03 action has had tang re-shaped to a more graceful line, bolt body and raceway damascened, and bolt knob flattened on bottom and checkered. A Lyman 48 long slide receiver sight has been fitted, additionally, a G&H sidemount and set of double lever QD scope rings is mounted on the left receiver. Fine straight grain walnut butt, orig. G&H sling swivels, with steel gripcap and silver oval near toe. Stock is finished with a solid red G&H mounted pad. Left side of butt with a small, beaded, right hand cheek piece. All visible SN match. WEIGHT: 8 lbs 9 oz. LOP 14″. Consignor states only 73 G&H custom riles produced in 1936. CONDITION: Fine as partially restored, by G&H. Bbl retains approximately 90% of what appears to be its orig finish, toning and turning brown towards muzzle. Damascening is very good with some minor losses on bolt. Buttstock with minor hunting bumps has been repaired behind top of action into wrist with checkering at wrist cleaned up and retouched. Overall stocks retain nearly all of its restored finish.
