Antebellum Ames militia officer’s sword with maker marked 31″ double-edged blade and solid brass scabbard with raised relief mounts. Oversized cruciform guard with silver plated hexagonal grip with knights head pommel, with plumbed helmet. Middle scabbard mount has raised relief eagle in central vignette. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. Blade retains some orig luster but overall grey with discernible etched American patriotic panels. Double chain knuckle guard complete. Traces of silver on grip and traces of gold in protected areas on scabbard mount and hilt. Pommel slightly bent forward. 52865-45 JS (800-1,200) – Lot 3097
