FINE CIRCA 1825 HORSEMAN’S SABER WITH IVORY GRIP.

This beautiful sword has fully engraved, solid brass and gilded scabbard which matches the heavily gilded hilt with birds head pommel and serpent forming knuckle bow. Carved ivory grip has dark patina. 29-1/2″ horseman blade has 3-color etched panels including panoplies of arms and a full standing goddess with a sword. Blade is maker marked “D DAVIDSON & SON”. CONDITION: Very good overall. Scabbard and hilt components retain 90%+ orig bright gold plate. Blade retains much of its luster and about half of its bright blue decoration with scattered areas of staining. Ivory grip has several hairlines and a glued chip repair just under pommel cap on one side.
