FINE “AS FOUND” CIRCA 1835 AMERICAN EAGLE POMMEL MILITIA SWORD.Early Hortsmann, Philadelphia militia sword with folding scallop shaped languette with American eagle, decorated knuckle bow and eagle head pommel, solid brass engraved scabbard, with 28″ lustrous “like new” etched blade with unusual Wm H. Hortsmann & Sons markings in script “WHH&S” on one side and “PHILADELPHIA” on the other. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall. Scabbard and hilt retain traces of orig silver plating with an overall mixed mustard patina. 4-sided fluted bone grip has old glue repair and a couple of chips that do not affect the overall aesthetics. Blade as noted retains virtually all of its orig luster and shine. 52865-24 JS (800-1,200) – Lot 3091
