RARE ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 LIGHTWEIGHT HALF-ROUND/HALF-OCTAGON BARREL RIFLE.SN 118556. Cal. 30 WCF. Rare 26″ half-rnd/half-oct lightweight tapered barrel, Lyman ivory bead front sight. Winchester Type 34 3-leaf “EXPRESS” rear sight with platinum lines. Full blue finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with Winchester hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Winchester combination tang sight. Bbl shows 2-line Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight. Left side of bbl at breech is marked “NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”. Cal. stamped at breech on top. SN is stamped on forward lower part of receiver. Tang sight was not removed. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube both retain 90% plus orig blue finish with some fading on rnd portion and slight muzzle wear. All markings are sharp. Sights are fine. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver retains 80% bright blue finish that has drifted at the carry point to plum brown with some high-point wear on top. Bolt retains 50% blue with some staining to rear. Loading gate shows traces of fire blue. Hammer and lever both retain a generous amount of orig case color finish overall. Mechanics are crisp. Tang sight retains most of the orig blue. Stocks are fine, full sized and show most of the orig varnish finish with only slight handling marks overall. Buttplate is very good with no losses and sharp checkering. Forend cap retains 90% muted blue finish. A chance to get a very fine Model 1894 special order rifle in the antique SN range.
