SN 6131. (on bottom of action and wing safety) Cal. .500 Jeffery. 24″ Round bbl fitted with express sights in island base, and sleeved-on front ramp with flip-up night bead, is marked “W. J. JEFFERY & CO. LTD” “13 KING STREET, ST. JAMES’S ST. LONDON. S.W.” on left rear. Proof marks are absent. Standard length Model 98 Mauser action with caliber engraved on receiver ring, has square bridge and cartridge feed fingers for single stack magazine in Westley Richards style. Long bolt handle has knob checkered in four teardrop pattern. Extra deep bottom metal has hinged floorplate. Nicely marbled European walnut trap capped pistol grip stock with ebony tip, recoil bolts, right hand cheekpiece, and classic point pattern checkering, measures 14-3/8″ over Silver type pad. Drop at heel: approx 2-3/16″, drop at comb: approx 1-7/8″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 10 lbs. 4 oz. LOP: 14-3/8″. CONDITION: Excellent, very close to new, possibly fired only once or twice.
