EXCEPTIONAL CIVIL WAR PALMER BOLT ACTION CARBINE.NSN. Cal. 50. 20″ bbl. This is a extremely fine example of the first bolt action metallic cartridge arm accepted by the U.S Government. Only about 1,000 of these guns were made by Lamson & Company in Windsor, Vermont and delivered in April 1965. These were not issued to troops due to cessation of hostilities. This gun conforms to the standard configuration of other specimens and marked like others “US/EG Lamson & Co/Windsor VT” and “1865″ on lock and on back of breech “WM Palmer/Patent/DEC.22.1863″. This is a beautiful example of this carbine which would be difficult to upgrade. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Gun retains thin orig finish on bbl and strong case colors on lock, trigger guard and buttplate. Stock is sound, solid with crisp edges with “MM” cartouche and other small set of inspectors initials. Mechanics fine with bright shiny bore. 52701-5 (5,000-7,500) – Lot 3448
