ORNATE MEXICAN BOWIE KNIFE MADE FOR THE TOURIST TRADE.Blade is etched on the left side with a scene of a wolf chasing a deer. It is marked Mexico at the ricasso with something below that is illegible. Right side of blade is etched “MEXICO”. Scales are made of horn. Pommel shows an eagle head with some decoration carrying through to the handle. Scabbard is red russet leather in color, tooled on the face with the Mexican eagle, snake and cactus motif stamped at the throat with MEXICO below. CONDITION: Fine. Knife blade has not been sharpened. There are some black stains on either side toward the ricasso. Markings are clear. Scales are intact. Pommel is fine. Scabbard is fine, intact, with sharp decorations. A fine example of a Mexican knife made for the tourist trade in the 1950’s or 60’s. 52646-34 TEP (100-200) – Lot 2281
