NSN. Cal. about 65. 6 1/2″ rnd bbl with raised flats and rifled bore. Lock is engraved “F & A PENEL/FRERES” of St-Etienne 1746-60(Stockel, p. 933). Lock hammer, top tang and breach end of bbls have floral engraving. Pin-fastened walnut stock. Lock, sideplate, top tang and ramrod channnel areas have moulded borders with deep relief carving behind thimble and top tang. Engraved brass fittings include side plate thimble, trigger guard with fancy finial and buttcap. Forearm tip is made of buffalo horn. Button-tipped iron ramrod. CONDITION: Good. Clean gray metal. Stock is broken with epoxy repair at wrist. Mechanics are functional. Bore has strong rifling with dark appearance and some pitting. 52594-41 DS (2,500-4,500) – Lot 3393
