ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL EMILE CHABAS (French, 1869-1937)) “HAPPY NEW YEAR”

Housed in a magnificent period floral encrusted gesso decorated giltwood frame
Signed lower left “-Chabas-“, titled on presentation plaque “Happy New Year – Chabas”, there is some confusion in that the artist the painting with an “S” that looks like a “D” and the plaque signifies the “S”, but neither indicates the artists first name. Paul Emile Chabas is known to have done formal portraits which this is inline with. SIZE: 48-1/2″ x 33-1/2″. Overall: 61-1/4″ x 46″ PROVENANCE: From a coastal Maine collection CONDITION: Very good restored condition with minor areas of touch-up, lined 52553-13 (4,000-6,000) – Lot 1229
