NSN. 1) Cal. 2mm Pinfire. 6-shot revolving cylinder set atop a German silver ring. Outside of ring is marked “Le Petit Guardian” surrounded by acanthus engraved embellishments. Mainspring wraps around ring to pinfire hammer, trigger is located on opposite side. 6-shot cylinder is held by detent ball and manually turned with knurled top bead. Steel parts are nitre blued. Ring is held in blue pear shaped clamshell case with fitted green velour interior having maker’s nameplate on lid. Case contains four 2mm pinfire casings. 2) Cal. 6mm percussion. Brass sgl shot ring gun marked “Le Petit Protector” on back and surrounded by acanthus engraving. Mainspring wraps around back of ring to hammer with trigger located on opposite side. Hammer is manually cocked to put miniature percussion cap on nipple and 6mm ball is loaded into chamber on front of ring. Housed in a leather covered case with cardboard cap box. Cap box contains three miniature percussion caps and one 6mm rnd ball. Inside of lid has presentation inscription “J.H. MATTHEWS,/From The Late A Maars”. CONDITION: 1) Fair. Metal parts retain 75% nitre blue. Ring shows light wear. Cylinder turns properly. Chambers show some pitting. Hammer does not hold in cocked position and needs attention. Case shows light wear. 2) Very good. Metal parts have faded nitre blue. Ring shows light wear. Chamber shows some pitting. Mechanics are functional. 52552-7 DS (3,500-5,000) – Lot 3225
