SN 131124. Cal. 45-70. 22″ rnd bbl, half-magazine, takedown. Full blue finish, Lyman receiver sight. Rear bbl sight mortise is plugged. “WP” proof in an oval at the rear of bbl. No “WP” in oval appears on receiver. Upper tang is marked “MODEL 1886”. Checkered straight grain American walnut stocks with pistol grip, hard rubber Winchester buttplate and Winchester sling eyes. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 80% blue finish with some stains toward the muzzle on the right side and some marks from the elevator of a rear sight that has been replaced. Front sight is very good with a brass bead. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver shows 20-30% blue finish, mostly on the right side. Receiver shows some touch-up to the finish under the rear sight. Bolt retains 50% blue finish. Lyman receiver sight retains traces of blue drifting to a mostly plum patina. Hammer and lever show generous traces of case color, especially on the left side of the lever with the balance being a silver/grey patina. Hammer also shows strong traces of case color. Stocks are very good, full sized and show only minor handling marks overall. Checkering is sharp. Winchester pistol grip cap is very good. Winchester hard rubber buttplate is very good with a clear logo. Forend cap shows 40-50% blue finish. Mechanics are crisp. A nice late-1886 in its most modern configuration and most desirable Cal. 52405-1 TEP (4,000-5,000) C&R – Lot 3021
