*COLT MADE 1911A1 TYPE GOVERNMENT MODEL PISTOL.

SN 52683. Cal. 45. 5″ bbl. Slide right marked with Mexican national crest and “SPECIAL EDITION” followed by “COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBER .45” over “EJERCITO MEXICANO” with rampant colt to the right. Rear sight is flat with rounded notch. Left side of slide has Colt’s standard patent address. SN appears on frame right above trigger on bbl visible through ejection port and on slide in front of rear sight. Hammer is long wide spur checkered. Thumb safety is milled, checkered. Slide stop is checkered 1911A1 type. Magazine catch is checkered. Trigger is short, milled, checkered. Mainspring housing has impressed rather than cut checkering. Stocks are full checkered walnut. Left lower stock screw is missing. Matching SN’s on frame, slide, and bbl appear to have been applied by Colt. Mainspring housing looks like some observed on DGFM Argentine pistols. Magazine is postwar metal form marked “COLT 45 AUTO” with colt. CONDITION: Very good. Top of slide shows thin rounded front sight having two large dents. Left stocks show damage to lower rear corner and is missing lower stock screw. Portion of bbl visible through ejection port was polished but now shows considerable erosion of finish. Front sight shows two large dents on top. Both stocks show considerable wear with numerous small diamonds missing. Stock screws appear to have been refinished. Mechanics are crisp. Magazine is fully blued with some erosion to finish. Overall, pistol shows 95% orig finish with various dings and scratches. 52318-5 KXK (2,000-3,000) C&R – Lot 2257
