RARE FULL STOCK FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE MADE BY ROBERT STERLING, NEWBURGH, NEW YORK.NSN. This is an aesthetically pleasing full stock Kentucky signed “R. STERLING NEWBURGH”. 55″ overall, 40″ oct bbl, 50 cal, rifled bore. Robert Sterling is an obscure New York gunsmith who at one point, in the mid 1840’s was Mayor. Gun exhibits pierced patch box, brass mounted with checkered wrist and German silver thumb plate. PROVENANCE: Outstanding estate collection of Confederate and historical arms of Morris Racker. CONDITION: Good to very good overall, as restored. Several insets around lock and repaired crack at wrist wood inset at toe. Probably re-conversion with replaced lock escutcheon.
