*RARE EARLY L.C. SMITH GRADE 4-E 16 GAUGE SHOTGUN WITH CHAIN DAMASCUS BARRELS.

SN 6439. Cal. 16 ga. 28″ Chain Damascus bbls. 2-5/8″ chambers. Choked full/full. Full length matted top rib with brass front bead and gold bar near breach. Dbl triggers, automatic ejectors, automatic safety. Capped full pistol grip buttstock checkered in 2-point pattern appears to be beautifully figured French walnut with 14-1/4″ LOP over lined HRBP. Splinter forearm with roll-type release and triangular ebony tip is near fully checkered in 2-point pattern. Receiver is nicely engraved with scroll engraving and oval game scenes at back of locks. All visible SN’s match. Accompanied by an old Bauer Bros Mfg canvas and leather take-down case. WEIGHT: 6 lbx, 12 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Appears as found and untouched. Bbls retain 80-90% strong orig Chain Damascus pattern. Receiver retains 30-40% toned orig case color with some light spotting. Buttstock and forearm are excellent with minor scratches and handling marks throughout and retain 80-90% orig finish. Bores are bright and shiny with some scattered pitting at front of chambers. Mechanics are functional. Case is fair with wear to leather.With a gentle cleaning this will make an exceptional rare and collectible L.C. Smith. 51183-1 JSL (4,500-7,500) C&R – Lot 2508
