OIL ON CANVAS TROMPE L’OEIL OF HANGING MALLARD DUCK BY ALEXANDER POPE (1849-1924). Painting shows large drake mallard hanging from thin wire at top of painting. Green painted board background with black nails, one board shows loose sliver out of board. Signed lower right. Housed in a molded oak painted frame. Provenance: Probably acquired from artist, descended from the Dutton-Chase family of Medford, Mass. SIZE: 26″ h x 16″ w. CONDITION: Near excellent. 65-3 (5,000-10,000)
