ZITAN RECESSED TRESTLE- LEG ALTAR TABLE, QIAOTOUAN.

Republic period, China. The table top set within the rectangular frame with everted ends above the narrow apron finely carved with stylized chi- long, all supported on columnar legs terminating in slightly outward-curved hoof feet and framing well-carved reticulated panels of chi-long surrounding Chinese “Shou” character amidst clouds. The Zitan wood of natural dark brown color and grain. SIZE: 33-7/8″ h x 61″ l x 18-7/8″ w. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection from a renowned Taiwanese Diplomatic Family – Cai Wanjun (? – 2011), Xu Shaochang (1913–1999), and Ye Gongchao (1904 – 1981).
