EARLY GERMAN CAPE GUN. Cal. 16ga and 11mm. Fine early Cape gun with 27-3/8″ damascus bbls, fixed sights with makers name and “MUNCHEN” in gold on the top rig. Breech end of the bbls have two gold bands and light gold inlay at the end of the rib. Receiver and back action lock plates, hammers and trigger guard are beautifully engraved with floral and vine patterns. The screw heads and hinge pin are gold inlay. Trigger guard is very stylized with a horn grip extension. The under lever is horn and iron with a tiny splinter forearm. Buttstock is highly figured with very deep Germanic style cheek piece, carved with a relief running stag on the left side and a nicely engraved 2-pc patch box on the right side. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbls retain 75-80% brown pattern with the balance of the metal being a dark gray. The forearm is missing, small splinters from the bbl channel and the buttstock is cracked through the wrist. Dark moderately pitted bores. 4-46551 JR37 (1,500-2,500)
